Ordinary things that matter

There is always something to do on the farm. You join in with what suits you, at your own pace. And anyone who would rather just watch is just as welcome.

    Garden & orchard

    The orchard is the heart of De Boomgaard. There are forty old apple and pear trees, a vegetable garden with raised beds and a greenhouse that is pleasantly warm even in March.

    Cooking & baking

    By half past eleven the whole yard smells of soup. In the large farmhouse kitchen we cook a hot lunch together every day, with vegetables and fruit from our own garden.

    Music & singing

    Music unlocks what words sometimes no longer can. On Tuesdays volunteer Wim brings his accordion, and the whole room sings along.

    Craft workshop

    The old barn is now a bright workshop, with workbenches, a large table for needlework and a cupboard full of paint, wool and wood.

    Walks & duo bike

    Getting outside, wind in your hair. We go for a stroll every day, and on Wednesdays the duo bike heads out along the river Vliet.

    The animals

    Saar and Sientje, our two goats, are waiting at the gate every morning. They know exactly who has a piece of apple in their coat pocket.
