Costs and funding

Three laws, in plain language

Care at home is paid for through the Health Insurance Act, the Social Support Act or the Long-term Care Act. Which route fits depends on your situation. We work that out with you in the first conversation.

Zvw

Health Insurance Act (Zvw)

Community nursing and most personal care at home are covered by your basic health insurance. There is no excess (eigen risico) for community nursing.

Who decides?
Our community nurse works out with you which care is needed. This is called the assessment (indicatie).
How does it start?
You can contact us yourself. You do not need a referral from your GP.
Usually for
Community nursing, Personal care, Care after a hospital stay
Wmo

Social Support Act (Wmo)

Household help and support are usually arranged through the municipality of Vlietstad. The municipality may ask for a personal contribution.

Who decides?
The municipality decides whether you receive help and how much, after a conversation with an adviser at the Wmo desk.
How does it start?
We help you get started: we explain how to apply and what to expect.
Usually for
Household help, Individual support
Wlz

Long-term Care Act (Wlz)

If someone permanently needs care or supervision throughout the day, the Long-term Care Act may apply. Often people can still stay at home.

Who decides?
An independent national body decides whether you qualify for the Wlz. A personal contribution may apply here too.
How does it start?
We explain how to apply and keep providing care while the application is being processed.
Usually for
Personal care, Household help, Individual support

This website does not decide whether you qualify for anything. That is up to our community nurse, the municipality or an independent national body, depending on the route. Not sure? Choose “I am not sure yet” in the form.
